ABG Technologies Limited's e-wallet "POCKET" has received primary approval from Bangladesh Bank to provide digital cash in and cash out services to its users.
This is the first time in Bangladesh that a payment service provider (PSP) has been given primary approval from the central bank to perform such operations.
As a result, POCKET users will soon be able to avail the Cash In and Cash Out services.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan was present at the launching ceremony on Thursday.
Group Director of Bashundhara Group Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan and Director of ABG Bashundhara Mostafa Azad Mohiuddin were also present at the event with other senior officials of the conglomerate.
The winner of the Eid campaign "Who will win a Repsol Bike?," which ended last month, was also announced during Thursday's event. The event was held amid a festive mood at the POCKET corporate office, ABG Tower, Bashundhara residential area in the capital.
The POCKET app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. POCKET offers a physical VISA debit card that allows cashless payments through POS machines, cash withdrawals from ATMs, and the other services available on a VISA debit card.
Furthermore, various financial transactions including merchant payments, vendor payments, sending money, requesting money, mobile bill recharge, credit card bill payment, salary disbursement, utility bill payment and government service payments.
