Bashundhara Shuvosangho distributed sewing machines to underprivileged women on 29 March to promote self-reliance in Sapahar, Naogaon.

The organisation provided machines to 15 women who completed a three-month vocational training programme.

The distribution ceremony took place at 11:00am on Sunday at the Sapahar Upazila Parishad hall room.

Monowarul Islam, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Sapahar unit, presided over the event, while Mahbubul Alam, principal of Sapahar Al-Helal Islami Academy and College, attended as the chief guest. Speakers said the initiative would help boost economic empowerment among rural women. They noted that the beneficiaries can now earn from home and support their families financially. Special guests included Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury (Labu), general secretary of upazila BNP; Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Shamsunnahar Sumi; and Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman.

One beneficiary expressed gratitude, saying the sewing machine was a blessing that would allow her to support her family through her own income.
