Bashundhara Group Donates Tk 1.5 million to Families of 3 Journos

Bashundhara Group has provided Tk 1.5 million for the families of three journalists died of coronavirus, as part of its continuous support for the fight against the fatal disease.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over a cheque for Tk 5 lakh to each of the families on Sunday.

Three journalists died of coronavirus are Somoyer Alo city editor Humayun Kabir Khokon and senior subeditor Mahmudul Hakim Apu, and Bhorer Kagoj crime reporter Aslam Rahman.

Khokon’s wife Sharmin Sultana Rina, Apu’s wife Arifa Sultana and Aslam’s wife Fatema Rahman received the donation at a simple function at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-1 in the capital.

Expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Group, Rina said her family is really grateful to the country’s leading business conglomerate for providing the financial support in the hard situation amid the corona pandemic.

Among others, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam and Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan were present on the occasion.

Briefing journalists, Naem Nizam, also Chief Executive Officer of NEWS24, said Bashundhara Group has proved again that the company stands by the people.

“Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has extended support to the families of the three journalists on humanitarian grounds,” he added.

Imdadul Haq Milan, also a noted writer, said Bashundhara Group has shown excellence by standing by people and is contributing much to the society.

Earlier, Bashundhara Group donated Tk 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund in the wake of the corona crisis.

The business company has set up the country’s largest hospital for coronavirus patients at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital.
