Sewing machines have been distributed among 15 underprivileged women in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon as part of an initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho to help improve their livelihoods. The distribution programme was held around 10am on Saturday at the upazila parishad auditorium. Badalgachhi unit BNP Senior Vice-President and former chairman Zakir Hossain Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest. The programme was presided over by Golam Kibria, president of Badalgachhi unit Shuvosangho.
Special guests included the upazila unit BNP Organising Secretary Rabiul Islam, Masud Rana, Press Club President Shahidul Islam Dabir, Shuvosangho General Secretary Mosaddek Hossain Musa, sewing trainer Selina Dil Afroz, Shuvosangho adviser and Kaler Kantho correspondent Emdadul Haque Dulu, district correspondent Faridul Karim, Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman, Bashundhara Foundation Senior Officer Md Mamun, Bashundhara Shuvosangho central committee Vice-President Shamim Al Mamun, joint general secretaries Yasir Arafat Rafi and Shah Md Hasibur Rahman Hasib.
Speaking at the event, chief guest Zakir Hossain described the initiative as a noble and service-oriented effort. He said that if the beneficiaries properly utilise the machines and work diligently, the initiative will be successful. He also wished continued success for Bashundhara Group’s efforts to support disadvantaged people.
Special guest Rabiul Islam said that those who received the machines after completing three months of training now have a source of income, and they should use this opportunity to improve their lives. One of the beneficiaries, Sanjida Akhter, said, “With this support, my family, along with others, will be able to move forward.”
