Bashundhara Group, the leading industrial conglomerate of the country, is providing monthly educational support to thousands of underprivileged students across schools, colleges, and universities in Bangladesh.
Determined to ensure that no one’s education halts due to financial constraints, Bashundhara is supporting these students through its philanthropic initiative—Bashundhara Shubhosangho. Most of the beneficiaries are studying at public universities, including in medical and engineering disciplines.
At Jahangirnagar University alone, 116 meritorious students from disadvantaged backgrounds are receiving monthly scholarships from Bashundhara Group, enabling them to continue their studies with peace of mind. Daily Kaler Kantho shares the experiences of a few of them:

“My mother used to work at an NGO. Inspired by her, I dreamt of serving people and working in a senior role in a big NGO after completing my education.
However, her job loss became a major setback. Even after scoring GPA 5 in HSC, I couldn’t sit for any university admission tests due to the financial crisis—we couldn’t even afford the application forms.
Eventually, I took a small job at an NGO. In 2023, I managed to sit for the entrance test at Jahangirnagar University and thankfully got selected. I left my job and came to Dhaka with faith in the Almighty. My department teachers were aware of my situation, and one of them introduced me to Bashundhara Shubhosangho.
I applied for the scholarship and got selected. The support from Bashundhara Group has made my academic life so much easier. I can now afford books, food, and other essentials with this money.
A big thanks to everyone at Bashundhara Shubhosangho. We, the financially struggling students, are deeply grateful for your support in securing our education.”

“My father, a government employee, passed away in 2018. Since then, my mother has been managing the household with a monthly pension of Tk10,700. Running the family itself was difficult, and affording university education felt like an impossible dream. Still, my mother never gave up hope. She used to give me Tk2,000 monthly—even though it was beyond her means.
When I was preparing to join the university, many around us advised against it, saying, “What’s the point of studying without money? Learn a trade instead.” I ignored them and kept fighting, though deep down I knew I couldn’t go far alone.
In that dark and difficult time, Bashundhara Shubhosangho became a ray of hope. Their support was not just financial—it gave me courage, love, and faith. People who didn’t even know me stood by my side.
Today, I am a university student not just because of my efforts, but also due to my mother’s sacrifices and Bashundhara Shubhosangho’s compassion.
Even in my father's absence and through financial struggles, I keep moving forward—for my future and to bring a smile to my mother’s face. I want to stand beside helpless people the way Bashundhara does.”

“I’m sincerely grateful to the Bashundhara Group. Through their selfless initiatives, I’ve learned what it means to support others without expecting anything in return.
I’m the eldest among four siblings. It became extremely difficult for my father to manage all family expenses along with our education. So I started supporting my own education.
After finishing my intermediate level, I had to fight hard to get into a university. Balancing tutoring with studies left me exhausted and unfocused. I often wished for more time to prepare properly.
By the grace of Allah, I got admitted to Jahangirnagar University. But after moving to a new city from my village, I was overwhelmed with worry. I didn’t know how I’d afford living expenses. I had to take money from my younger sister’s tutoring income, which was humiliating for me.
My first year at university was very difficult. I couldn’t find any tutoring jobs to manage my costs. I didn’t even know how I’d pay exam fees.
That’s when Bashundhara Shubhosangho came to my aid. By Allah’s grace, I received their scholarship. It helped me eliminate my extra worries and focus on my studies. The amount I receive every month covers my basic expenses.
Please pray for me so that I can one day stand beside people like Bashundhara Group does—selflessly and compassionately. I hope we all reach our goals and fulfill our parents’ dreams.

Unlike many others, the beginning of my academic life wasn’t smooth. In my childhood, I lost my eyesight due to a doctor’s mistreatment. My family was deeply worried about my future. Later, my mother learned from a distant relative that there was a government school for the visually impaired in Khulna where students are taught using Braille. She got me admitted there. Her dream was not to let me become a burden on society, but to help me become educated and independent.
I completed my secondary education in 2021. I resided at the government hostel under the Narail Integrated Education Programme for the Visually Impaired and completed my higher secondary from Ashar Alo College in 2023. In the academic year 2023–24, I got the opportunity to study at the Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture at Jahangirnagar University. Sadly, my father couldn’t afford the admission expenses. My close relatives came together to bear the cost because my father is a day labourer. This situation was emotionally overwhelming for me and my family, as we feared that I might have to abandon my studies solely due to financial hardship.
But by the will of Almighty Allah, Bashundhara Shubhosangho stood by my side at that crucial time. With their support, I’m now able to continue my university education without disruption. I express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Bashundhara Group and everyone at Bashundhara Shubhosangho.

I come from a family of five—my parents, two siblings, and me. I grew up in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachari district, a remote area where finding a good teacher is difficult. In such a setting, dreaming of studying at a top public university seemed like a luxury. But I dared to dream. By Allah’s mercy and through my own efforts, I got into the Department of Law and Justice at Jahangirnagar University.
However, just when I thought the hardships were over, new challenges began. My father is the only earning member of our family. He is old and suffers from several serious illnesses. His eyesight has also deteriorated. On top of his medical expenses, he struggles to cover the education costs of my younger siblings and run the household. I hesitated to ask for monthly expenses, and tuition jobs didn’t help much. I was mentally falling apart.
But Allah didn’t abandon me. During this difficult time, Bashundhara Shubhosangho came forward to help. The monthly financial support they provide has greatly eased my worries. This selfless contribution from Bashundhara Shubhosangho is helping many students like me walk the path of their dreams. I am endlessly grateful to Bashundhara Shubhosangho and Bashundhara Group, because of whom the dreams of many students like me are still alive.

In one of the most difficult moments of my life, Bashundhara Shubhosangho stood by me. I am deeply thankful to Bashundhara Group and Bashundhara Shubhosangho. Their scholarship has made my academic journey smoother. I am currently a third-year student at Jahangirnagar University. For the past two years, I didn’t need any assistance because my family was financially stable.
My second elder brother, Shahriar Shuvo, was an electrical engineer with a good income. He supported our entire family, including me. But during the anti-discrimination student protest last July, he was shot on 19 July at Mirpur 10 and passed away on 23 July while under treatment in the ICU. This plunged both my family and me into financial crisis.
At that point, I applied for a scholarship from Bashundhara Shubhosangho, and by Allah’s grace, I received it. Alhamdulillah, this monthly support is now helping pave the way to fulfilling my dreams. Members of Bashundhara Shubhosangho are finding helpless students and extending their support. I may never be able to repay them, but I always pray for them. I also promise to devote myself to serving people, In Sha Allah.

The way Bashundhara Group, through Bashundhara Shubhosangho, has stood beside talented yet financially struggling students is truly admirable and effective. Their scholarship for underprivileged students proves that corporate social responsibility is not just a buzzword, but can be a powerful tool for social change.
Receiving this scholarship in a time of crisis made me realize that there are still institutions and people in society who believe in the dreams of the young generation and want to support them on their journey forward. This sense of responsibility has inspired me to become a responsible, humane, and service-oriented citizen in the future.
Earning the Bashundhara Shubhosangho scholarship is a unique achievement in my life. It has filled me with joy, pride, and deep gratitude. As a university student, this scholarship is not just financial aid—it is a symbol of society’s trust and recognition of my educational journey. Bashundhara Shubhosangho has boosted my confidence manyfold. It has inspired me to move forward with determination and continue striving toward realizing my dreams.

I was born into a poor family. I’m the second of five siblings. After our ancestral home was lost to river erosion by the Jamuna, we started living at my maternal grandfather’s house. My father didn’t own any land—he used to support our family by farming on leased land and working as a day laborer. Since childhood, I dreamt of studying at a university. Despite doing well in my SSC exams, I couldn’t get admitted to a good college in the town due to lack of money. I couldn’t afford any coaching for the university admission test either. By the grace of Allah, I still managed to get the opportunity to study at a university.
After getting here, I struggled to adjust to the new environment because of financial hardship. I couldn’t afford proper clothing or necessary books. I was surviving on just two meals from the university dining hall. At that difficult time, Bashundhara Shubhosangho stood by me. With a scholarship from Bashundhara Group, they helped me buy books, clothes, and food. They’ve been providing me with monthly financial assistance. I hope Bashundhara Shubhosangho continues to support me throughout the rest of my academic life.

I’m the second child of a farmer father and a homemaker mother. Our family has five members, including three siblings. My father is the sole earner. Though we grew up in poverty, we didn’t face much difficulty in education as we attended a government primary school. All three of us siblings are still students. After SSC, I got admitted to a government college in the district town, but had to drop out due to financial issues and illness. Later, I passed HSC from a local college. My father was finding it impossible to bear the educational expenses of all three of us. My elder sister had to discontinue her studies.
With the help of a local elder brother, I prepared for the university admission test and got into Jahangirnagar University. I was continuing my studies with great difficulty when my father suddenly fell ill with age-related complications. Our household sank into severe hardship. My studies were on the verge of stopping. I looked for tutoring jobs but couldn’t find any. I was slipping into depression and considered giving up my education. Just then, the scholarship from Bashundhara Shubhosangho came into my life like a savior.
Words cannot express how deeply grateful I feel. Sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Bashundhara Shubhosangho for keeping alive the dreams of thousands of students like me. By supporting underprivileged students like us, you’ve proven that Bashundhara Group is truly working for the welfare of the country and its people.
