The prize giving ceremony of the three-day ABG Bashundhara Victory Day Golf Tournament 2023 held with a colourful programme at Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) course in Dhaka on Sunday.
Chief of Bangladesh Army Staff General S.M. Shafiuddin Ahmed distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest in the programme.
KGC Vice-President and Master-General of the Ordnance of Bangladesh Army Major General Md Zahirul Islam inaugurated the four-day meet as the chief guest on December 14.
Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman, T-Sports Chairman and Managing Director, Rangpur Riders Chief Patron and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd President Safwan Sobhan Tasvir was also present there to grace the tournament.
“Bashundhara Group have always been involved with sports. Golf is a potential sport in Bangladesh, it has many chances, so we are with the sport,” said Safwan Sobhan Tasvir.
“Bashundhara has a sports complex where we have stadiums for all sports of Bangladesh under one roof including football, hockey, and futsal football. We have also invested in golf. We have invested in a driving range which will be the first-ever driving range is being built by the private sector in Bangladesh. It will open within next August,” he added.
ABG Bashundhara Director Mostafa Azad Mohiuddin was also present on the occasion.
Among others, KGC Club Captain Brigadier General Md Mahbubus Samad Chowdhury, KGC Tournament Director Brigadier General Abidur Reza Khan (retd), KGC Chief Executive Officer Colonel Md Shahidul Haque (retd), KGC General Manager (Club Affairs) Lieutenant Colonel Abu Md Sayedur Rahman (retd), KGC General Manager (Golf Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Md Anwar Hossain (retd) and other distinguished personalities were also present there.
A total of 650 local and foreign golfers are taking part in the meet which began on Wednesday.
