Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra pays tributes to Bangabandhu

The governing body of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd paid on Thursday tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj, marking his 40th death anniversary and the National Mourning Day, said a press release.
After placing the wreath, directors and high officials of the football club stood in solemn silence in front of the grave for some time and also offered munajat.
Earlier, a special prayer session was held on the Government Sheikh Mujibur Rahman College ground seeking salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who were killed on August 15 in 1975.
On the occasion, special foods were distributed among students and orphans at Sheikh Russel Sishu Niketon School and Sheikh Russel Dusta Proshikhan Kendra at Tungipapara.
Special foods were also distributed among the people of Hindu community on the Baladanga SM Musa School ground.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra vice-president Meer Samir, director in-charge Ismat Jamil Akand Lavlu, director (sports) Saleh Jaman, director (finance) Abdul Latif were present, among others, at the programme.
Maksudur Rahman, secretary to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir, was also present at the programme.
Local leaders, including Tungipara upazila parishad chairman Gazi Golam Mustafa and Tungipara pourashava mayor Elias Hossain, were also present.
Founded in 1995, Sheikh Russel KC won the league title in 2012-13 season, the Independence Cup in 2013 and Federation Cup in 2012.
This year, the football club confirmed their runners-up spot in the Bangladesh Premier League after defeating Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by 4-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on August 17. They finished their league campaign with 13 wins playing 20 matches in total.
