Fire drill held at Bashundhara City

Bashundhara City the biggest shopping mall in the country held a fire drill on its premises in the city on Tuesday to build the capacity of its workers to deal with any firerelated incidents successfully. Bashundhara City firefighters took part in the fire fighting exercise held in cooperation with the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defence from 11:00pm to 12:00 noon. Three firefighting units from the fire service and civil defence headquarters and two units from Mohammadpur fire service also joined the fire drill. During the fire drill Bashundhara shopping mall firefighters displayed their skills in dousing a fire rescuing trapped people and providing first aid for the injured people. TIM Latiful Hossain senior adviser (technical) to the Chairman of Bashundhara Group and incharge of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall was present during the drill. He thanked all of those who took part in the hourlong drill. The fire drill was conducted by Deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Mamun Mahmud and Maj (retd) Abul Kalam Azad Senior General Manager (administration and security) of Bashundhara City Development Ltd (BCDL). Mamun Mahmud told reporters that this fire drill will help build the capacity of firefighters of both Bashundhara City and the Fire Service. It will also help facilitate collaboration between the Bashundhara City and the fire service during any fire. He also expressed his satisfaction over the fire safety measures of Bashundhara City. Among others senior Executive Director (accounts) Sheikh Abdul Alim and top officials of Bashundhara City Development Ltd (BCDL) were present.
