Corona hospital at ICCB likely to open Monday

Country’s largest hospital built for corona patients at the International Convention City Bashundhara City (ICCB) in the capital is likely to open on Monday.
ICCB Chief Executive MM Jasim Uddin said this while briefing newsmen on the latest progress of the construction work of the hospital designated for treating corona patients.
Officials of the Health Engineering Department of the government and Bashundhara Group inquired about the progress of the construction work of the hospital.
They tested medical equipment and other electronic items, including air condition system, installed at the hospital.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the hospital, the ICCB chief executive said.
“We have been given the possible date (May 4) by the health ministry. However, they will make the confirmation on Sunday about the schedule of the inauguration of the hospital,” Jasim Uddin told the Daily Sun.
The hospital built at the ICCB has some uniqueness in facilities, including food catering for patients and medical staff as well the wide parking space, officials said.
Jasim Uddin mentioned that all the furniture and medical equipment have been installed and tested for launching the operation of the corona hospital.
“Installation of intensive care unit (ICU) for critical patients will take a little more time. However, we’re ready to provide service for the general corona patients,” he said.
Earlier, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan sent a written proposal to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for building a makeshift hospital for corona patients at the ICCB.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir tendered the proposal to Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus at the PMO. The premier accepted the proposal instantly. Besides, Sayem Sobhan Anvir also donated Tk 100 milion to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Bashundhara Group has designated its trade centre with 150,000 square feet and four convention centres with 90,000 square feet for the noble cause of treating people infected with the deadly virus which has seriously affected Bangladesh like other countries across the world.
Meanwhile, the noble initiative of Bashundhara Group to convert its trade centre and convention centre into a makeshift hospital has already been acclaimed at home and abroad.
