Bashundhara LP Gas safety campaign held in Jhenaidah

As part of its countrywide awareness campaign titled ‘Safe Home’, Bashundhara LP Gas held a programme at Jhenaidah on Tuesday to raise awareness about the safe use of LP gas and prevent any accident involving the gas cylinder.
The campaign was held at Ahar Hotel in the town, with the participation of a number of housewives, reports banglanews24.com.
BLPGL and SICL General Manager (sales) Mir TI Faruk discussed ways to prevent gas cylinder blasts.
On behalf of Bashundhara LP Gas, Divisional Sales Manager Habibur Rahman Habib, Md Arif Siddique of Brand Division, and distributor of Bashundhara LP Gas in Jhenaidah Kazi Kamal Babu also spoke.
The speakers explained the reasons behind the LP gas cylinder explosions and also described remedial measures.
They said LP gas cylinder marketing companies should also ensure standard quality of their services in order to check gas cylinder blasts.
According to Bangladesh Gas Cylinder Act-1991, retesting of gas cylinder should be done every five years, but some companies do not have own arrangement for retesting and quality control. So, those companies are marketing old and low quality gas cylinders at a low rate. As a result, the users are being exposed to risks of accident, said the speakers.
Besides, some unscrupulous businessmen are illegally refilling and marketing branded cylinders, resulting in cylinder leakage and accidents, they said and asked the subscribers to buy cylinders from only the outlets of recognised dealers or retailers.
The ‘Safe Home’ campaigns have already been held in Bogra, Natore, Dinajpur, Noagoan, Gaibandha, Chapainawabganj and Kushtia.
Bashundhara Group has been carrying out the campaign as part of corporate responsibility.
At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed among the participants through a raffle draw. The first prize went to Rokeya Khatun while Wahida and Bristi Khatun got second and third prizes respectively.
Besides, various gifts were given to other participants.
