Bashundhara LP Gas safety campaign held in city
As part of its countrywide awareness campaign styled �Safe Home�, Bashundhara LP Gas held a programme at Mirpur in the capital on Monday with a view to raising awareness about the safe use of LP gas and preventing any accident involving gas cylinder. Some 50 homemakers took part in the programme held at a restaurant at Shadhin Bangla Super Market, reports Banglanews24.com. Speaking at the programme, Divisional Head (Operation) of BLPGL and SICL Zahidul Islam said LP gas is an explosive substance. So, the users must be careful while using LP gas cylinders. Bashundhara LP Gas, a concern of Bashundhara Group, which has been working for the betterment of the country and its people, has organised this campaign to raise awareness, he added. General Manager (Sales) of BLPGL and SICL Mir TI Faruk said this campaign is aimed to raise awareness among the LP gas users, not to sell Bashundhara products. Md Arif Siddique of Brand Division, Bashundhara LP Gas, highlighted ways to use the LP gas cylinders safely. Highlighting the features of a gas cylinder, he said the wall thickness of a cylinder will be 2.65mm. And the users must inspect the cylinders to see whether the cylinders have been retested. Only Bashundhara LP Gas has the facilities for retesting of its cylinders. He also asked the users to buy cylinders from only the outlets of recognised dealers or retailers to prevent any accident. Among others, Bashundhara LP Gas Divisional Manager Ahmed Ali Ripon and Mirpur distributor Zahidur Rahman also spoke. The speakers explained the causes of recent LP gas cylinder explosion and remedial measures. They said a number of companies are continuously marketing old and low quality cylinders at low prices as they do not have own retesting system. Some unscrupulous businessmen are also illegally refilling and marketing branded cylinders, resulting in cylinder leakage and accidents, they said. Bashundhara does not compromise with the quality of its product, they said, adding that the product of Bashundhara means best products. At the end of the programme, a raffle draw was held. Fatima, a housewife of Kalyanpur won the first prize and received a cooking set. Mina Ansari of Tolarbagh got the second prize and received a Bashundhara LP Gas cylinder. The third prize went to Beauty Begum of Kalyanpur who received a double gas burner. The participants said they have learnt how to use gas cylinder safely, which would help them avoid accidents. Bashundhara Group has been carrying out the campaign as part of corporate responsibility.
