Dinajpur Under-12 team will lock horns with Nilphamari Under-12 team in their junior category final of Bashundhara Kings Cup football tournament 2018 at Rangpur District Stadium in Rangpur today. The match will kick off at 2:00pm.
Meanwhile at 3:30pm today at the same venue, Dinajpur senior team will take on Nilphamari senior team in the final of senior division event for the ultimate glory.
Earlier on Friday, Dinajpur U-12 team and Nilphamari senior team claimed their places in the finals of their respective categories of Bashundhara Kings Cup after the semi-finals played at Rangpur District Stadium. Dinajpur boys had the last laugh of the day with 4-3 on the board after penalty shootout while braces from Siyo Zunapiyo and Morshedul guided Nilphamari to beat Gaibandha by 4-1 goals in the first semi-final of senior category.
In the second day of semi-finals on Saturday, Dinajpur senior team and Nilphamari U-12 team booked their tickets for the final beating Thakurgaon men and Panchagarh boys respectively. Dinajpur won by 3-2 goals while Nilphamari claimed 4-2 triumph after penalty shootout.
The biggest football tournament of Rangpur division, Bashundhara Kings Cup began on May 4 in Rangpur aiming to restore footballs’ lost popularity. The eight districts of Rangpur division have participated in the event.
Bashundhara Kings Sports Development In-charge Shafiqul Islam Manik is supervising the tournament. After the semi-finals he said that the organisers are pleased with the tournament procedure and matches. He also hoped that the finals will also be exciting and spectators will enjoy the event.
