Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, distributed blankets among the cold-hit poor people in the northern district of Rangpur on Saturday.

Valiant freedom fighter Solaiman Ali attended the blanket distribution programme as the chief guest. A number of 300 families received blankets on the Model High School premises in Gangachara upazila.

Getting the blanket, Aziz Mia, an elderly person of the locality, expressed his gratitude to the Bashundhara Group.
“May Allah bless the persons who gave us the blankets amid the bitter cold. We also express gratitude to Bashundhara Group for standing beside us in the tough times,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bashundhara Group distributed blankets among 300 destitute families at Haragach in Kaunia upazila under Rangpur the same day.

The poor people worst affected by the cold in the area received the blankets distributed at the field of the Haragach Multilateral High School.

Kaunia Upazila Vice-Chairman Abdur Razzak , among others, was present on the occasion.

One of the recipients of the blankets was elderly woman Samina Khatun. Glowed with happiness, she said “I am fasting today. In this situation, I have come to receive blanket. You have played role of my son by giving me the blanket. I pray for your welfare.”

It may be mentioned that Bashundhara Group reached out to the distressed and helpless people in any critical situation and natural calamity. Earlier, the Group distributed food and relief items among poor and insolvent people in northern region and other parts of the country during the Covid 19 lockdown and flood.
Hundreds of elderly, physically challenged and homeless men and women received the relief items which assuaged their sufferings.

Bashundhara Group also presented poor students with study materials in various parts of the country to facilitate their education amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides, the leading conglomerate of the country continues to distribute interest-free loan among the destitute in Brahmanbaria through Bashundhara Foundation for economic emancipation of the marginal people.

Free eye treatment and surgery for the poor by Bashundhara Eye Hospital & Research Institute and treatment and medical education at a low cost by Bashundhara Ad-Din Medical College & Hospital are other noble initiatives of the Bashundhara Group.
