Bashundhara Cement becomes series title sponsor

Bashundhara Cement was declared as the title sponsor of the Test and ODI series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday made the announcement at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. A logo unveiling ceremony was held in this regard where the high ups of both BCB and Bashundhara Group were present. In a basement clash, hosts Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will play three Tests and five ODIs in a 45-day long bilateral series where the pride and ranking will be at stake.
The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed Axiom Technologies had bought the rights of title and in-stadia sponsorship for the two years through Shahara. The Axiom had sold the rights to Bashundhara.
It was not the first time that Bashundhara, one of the leading conglomerates of the country, stepped up to sponsor any cricket series. The first time the conglomerate came up to support cricket was for Bangladesh’s home series against Pakistan in 2009. However the BDR tragedy in that year forced the series off.
In addition, they have been the sponsor of football, hockey and few other sports in the past.
The series between the two countries will be kicked off from October 25 with the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The second Test will be held at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna from November 3 and the third and final in Chittagong from November 12.
Bashundhara Group advisor Major General (retd) Mahbub Haider Khan, head of marketing of the group Jashim Uddin and GM of Bashundhara Cement Khondoker Kingshuk Hossain were present in the logo unveiling ceremony. Media committee chairman Jalal Younus and CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury represented BCB in the ceremony.
