A fire drill was held at the Press unit of East West Media Group Ltd. (EWMGL) at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on April 24. Lt Col Mohammad Abdul Awal (retd), Head of Press, EWMGL, presided over the event. Speaking on the occasion, Lt Col (retd) Awal asked all the fire men and security guards of the press unit to remain more careful and keep a watchful eye on every place during this summer. He also asked them to inspect all fire fighting equipment, including fire pump and fire hydrant. During inspection, all fire fighting equipment was found in good condition. At the beginning of the fire drill, Khizir Ahmed, GM (AHR), Press, Md Mazharul Islam, Sr. Officer (Admin), and Shahid Hossain, Asst. Officer (Fire), gave a briefing on fire fighting. The fire men and security guards were also given a practical training before the start of the fire drill. The participants, divided into four groups, doused different types of fire using fire hydrant, Dry Chemical Powder Cylinder and Co2 Fire Extinguisher. They were also shown how to use the Foam Type Fire Extinguisher to douse oil fire. Among others, Golam Mostofa, DGM, Press, Md Zahidur Rahman, Manager, (Store), Press, and Md Ishak Mia, Sr. Officer (Store), Press, were present at the fire drill.
